Thank you Manish for this lovely piece ....u guys sure ate a lot ;). We had been to Goa a long while ago, must be close to 7 yrs now. I did make a business trip there last year, but that wasn't as much fun as being there on a holiday :) Thank you for rekindling good ol' memories. Over to Manish..... We started from Delhi on Trivandrum Rajdhani which leaves Hazrat Nizammudin at 1100 hrs and reached Goa the next day at 1500 hrs a full 1 day and 5hrs. We have been enquired a number of times as to why we didnt take a flight and all about flight fares being cheaper. Of course, flight fares have nosedived and we have no nostalgia attached to good old train journey but still train remains cheaper especially if you are travelling with small kids. @Yala I have begun this post with a message our driver Anura sent us after we had exchanged our goodbyes once he dropped us off to the airport - " I am very sad to leave the airport after being with you for a week. I'm sorry if I made a mistake during the journey. Thank you very much for the money given to me, it is very important for my daughter's education. Thank you again for everything and God bless all of u to come to Sri Lanka next year." We have traveled quite extensively but it is only this time that we experienced the warmth and hospitality of people in a country. I have never felt this anywhere in India - our own country.  With an economy that is largely dependent on tourism, textiles and tea and political cum economic crisis that Sri Lanka recently went through, this trait will definitely take them a long way. Kaas Paathar, a tale unfolds

Mumbai was hot, sweltry and hazy. The month, October and the year, 2023. The hindu calendar had earlier informed that the year had an additional month (adhik maas). This meant that some month lasts well over the usual 30 days. This time it was Shravan, which lasted for well over a month...almost 2. The Ganesh festival arrived with much fanfare almost mid September and by the time it was over in late September, the skies shown blue and azure. We got busy with a much delayed trip to Mangalore - a land with which I have not just a familial but cellular connect. The trip as always felt good. Bonding with family, walking the familiar streets, delighting the taste buds with memorable goodies. The rains were receding and the weather was lovely.
